How to keep shopping cart wheels running smoothly
Simple checks that extend wheel life and keep carts quiet on the store floor.
Worn wheels make carts noisy and hard to steer. A few checks keep a fleet in good shape.
Monthly checks
- Remove hair and thread from the axles.
- Look for flat spots on the treads.
- Check that swivel wheels turn freely.
When to replace
Replace wheels in sets when treads are worn or bearings are loose. Mixed old and new wheels make carts pull to one side.
Choosing replacements
Match the diameter and mounting. Stores with travelators need escalator wheels that lock into the grooves. We supply wheel sets for our carts and for most other makes.
